Mission Statement
April 1968 - Dr. Nabil El Sayad joined thousands of people at the Church of The Virgin Mary in Zeitoun, Cairo, Egypt to witness a modern day miracle. The clear vision of the apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary graced his sight. It was this visual miracle that inspired Dr. El Sayad to reach out to the poor and the needy.
1998 - St. Mary’s Foundation, a non-profit organization, was formed in order to meet the needs of the poor and illiterate through the formation of St. Mary’s Learning Center. The Center provided:

The overall objective of the program was to provide young adults with the knowledge to succeed in today’s competitive job market.
Dr. El Sayad noticed in his medical practice the effects of debilitating illnesses on the needy and the elderly without means to proper continuity of care. The mission of St. Mary’s Foundation became:
“To provide free physical therapy, preventive medicine, and counseling to improve the quality of life for the seniors in the community of Wilmington, California.”
2004 - Sisters of St. Joseph of Cluny and the Tzu Chi Taiwan Buddhist Foundation came to know about St. Mary’s Foundation’s mission and collaborated to open a Senior Rehabilitation Center and Dental Free Clinic in Wilmington, California.
2006, St. Mary’s Foundation extended their services to disabled seniors and children’s orphanages in the cities of Tijuana, Rosarito, Ensenada, and Guadalajara, Mexico.
2011 - St. Mary’s Foundation extended their services to the needy in Kenya, Africa by providing basic necessities such as food, water, shelter, education, health and overall well-being.


Today, in California, St. Mary’s Foundation supports and assists in multiple food programs,
school tuition assistance and optical aid to seniors, as well as providing financial aid to multiple non-profit organizations that have also been inspired to help all those in need.
St. Mary’s Foundation strives through passion to assist all in need and is dedicated to promoting health and well-being to improve quality of life. To continue, all these good works depend on the generosity of others. St. Mary’s Foundation is here to help, remembering that we are all part of something very big. Every little act of generosity changes the world.
